Just one PSL player to feature at 2022 World Cup

Such is the worldwide representation in this league that there are players from Africa, Europe, South America, and the Oceania Football Confederation.

Yet only one has a realistic chance of being in Qatar from November 21-December 18.

Following his return from injury earlier in the season, Ofori sat on the bench last night in the two play-off matches against Nigeria with Joseph Wollacott given the nod.

Three other players from Ghana play in this league, namely Kwame Peprah (Orlando Pirates), Richard Zumah (Maritzburg United), and Edwin Gyimah (Sekhukhune United) but they are unlikely to be in the squad.

There are no Moroccans in the PSL at present with Oubei Adi El Houssaine and Noah Sadaoui the only two to ever play in this league.

Three Cameroonians - Hugo Nyame (Royal AM), Fidele Brice Ambina (Cape Town City), and Bienvenu Eva Nga (Chippa United) play in this league but none are likely to be considered.

In previous years only the legendary Roger Feutmba played for the Indomitable Lions while attached to a club in this league.

There is no Tunisian in the PSL, and none has ever played here. For the Lions of Teranga, they will also have no players from the PSL with no Senegalese playing in this league.

All the South Americans playing in the PSL whose countries have qualified for the World Cup stand absolutely no chance with Ricardo Nascimento (Brazil), Junior Mendieta (Argentina), and Gaston Sirino (Uruguay) all having zero chances of being considered.

Even the Europeans Amadou Soukouna (France and Maritzburg United), Samir Nurkovic (Serbia and Kaizer Chiefs), and Marcel Engelhardt (Germany and Maritzburg United) also all stand no chance at all having never even received calls before.

Andre de Jong of AmaZulu has won caps for New Zealand and already featured in the current World Cup qualification campaign, but the All Whites still need to play against Costa Rica in the inter-confederation play-offs in June to determine their qualification.
