Nampol miss chance to take lead

Despite facing almost certain relegation throughout this Debmarine Namibia Premier Football League season, Life Fighters FC has vowed to continue fighting for points in their remaining fixtures.
On Saturday the Otjiwarongo team gave themselves a chance at survival following their 1-0 win over Young Brazilians FC.
The club had a rough start to the 2023/24 season, but have managed to pick themselves up in their recent encounters.
As things stand, Life Fighters still remain in the fight for survival for now.
Club spokesperson Terry Ujamba urged the club fans to remain hopeful.
“We are trying our level best to ensure that Kahirona does not get relegated.
“It’s tough at the bottom of the log because clubs are so close to each other.
“We are however still in the fight and that is what matters. The fans must not lose hope yet because there are a few matches to go,” Ujamba said.
FRONT-RUNNERS
At the top of the log, African Stars gave themselves breathing space by beating Okahandja United 3-2 on Friday. Ibroihim Youssouf score twice for the reigning champions and Charles Hambira rounded off the final blow, with Willy Stephanus involved in two of the assists.
Khomas Nampol FC on the other hand only managed to add one point on Friday, following a 1-1 draw against Unam FC.
Khomas Nampol coach Fortune Eichab is nevertheless confident that the title race will go down to the wire.
“Dropping points on Friday does not rule us out of the race. We still have a chance and I keep telling the players to fight till the end.
“This is going to be an interesting last few matches for all of us.
“I still do expect more twists and turns up until the final day of the season,” Eichab said.
Orlando Pirates also suffered a setback in their purpose to lift themselves out of the relegation zone after losing 3-0 to Blue Waters in Okahandja on Saturday. Goals by Junior Petrus, Gattuso and Isaskar Gurirab put the coastal travellers in the clear, maintaining their mid-table 10th position, while Pirates were 14th.
Ongos FC (overtaken by Khomas Nampol who is now second), Julinho, Mighty Gunners and Young African were all not in action this weekend, meaning they all still have five matches to play, while the clubs that played this weekend only have three matches left.
