Lots at stake for top contenders

Windhoek Gymnasium vs WAP will be the first of three featured live rugby matches on NTV this weekend.
The Schoemans Group Windhoek Gymnasium Lions were crowned the Standard Bank NSSR U19 Super League champions last year after a 24-23 victory in the final.
The Lions will again meet 2022’s beaten finalists Autohaus Windhoek Afrikaans Private School at Gymnasium’ field at 17:00 on Friday.
Gymnasium’s triumph in 2022 came through a last-minute penalty in front of the posts which fly-half JW Visagie calmly converted, to overtake Affies’ lead just before the final whistle.
Visagie will be absent tomorrow – touring in Tanzania with the Namibia junior cricket team on their quest for U19 World Cup qualification. Waldre Kotze could be a very able replacement, though.
Meanwhile, Affies will be boosted by the return of Van der Merwe Tromp (fly-half), who sustained an injury during the U18 Academy Week in Johannesburg and hence was rested for last week’s Momentum Invitational tournament at WHS.
The NSSR Super League is back in full swing after the holidays and Friday’s clash sees two powerhouse teams that contributed significantly to this year’s Namibia U18 schools team.
Both teams so far only played one game each in, so it’s all to play for in this single-round competition.
Windhoek Gymnasium opened with a 31-17 away win against PSG Walvis Bay Private School, while WAP beat Compack Tsumeb Gymnasium 18-10.

The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) premier league continues this Saturday, with fifth-placed FNB Unam hosting FNB Rehoboth (sixth).
Resurgent Unam have their sights firmly set on re-entry into the top-four, after an impressive 38-19 win against Trustco United last week.
The match will be broadcast live on Network Television (DStv channel 285, GoTv channel 25) as well as on Facebook (Sport Wrap and Republikein) and YouTube (Namibia Media Holdings), so rugby lovers can stay up to date.
• FNB Grootfontein, who often struggle to field their strongest combinations on the road due to work and farming commitments, travel to Walvis Bay for a tough test against a resilient FNB Kudus, who has only lost two out of 11 matches for a solid second position.
The Walvis Bay match will also be live streamed on Facebook (Erongo) and also on https://oneuptwo.com/
Elsewhere, FNB Western Suburbs will travel to the Dr Lemmer school field to take on FNB Reho Falcon. Leaders FNB Wanderers and United (third) have a bye weekend.
When Unam travelled to Rehoboth in the first leg during May, they lost 46-35 to FNB Rehoboth. Whoever loses this weekend would suffer a blow in the three-horse race (with Suburbs) to reach the semi-finals.
