Race for the top intensifies
Upon returning from a well-deserved break, the FNB Women Super League continued this past weekend.
Tura Magic beat Ramblers 3-2 at the Khomasdal Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday morning in the FNB Women Super League.
Team captain Lovisa Mulunga said they tried their best to come back in the second half.
"We believe that we are always resilient, even when we were a goal down. We never gave up, we gave it our all till the last whistle. We are going to work extra hard as it will be a tough journey as the league title grab intensifies,” she added.
Ramblers coach Hafeni Ndeitunga said they played a tough match against an experienced opponent.
“Football will kill you, but it was a great match. The girls should be proud. We have a high standard, that’s why I’m always on the sideline. The last two games we played were good. We drew one against Magic and also managed a narrow defeat. This gives us motivation. We shouldn’t be scared of any team, top five is a realistic goal for us.”
Namib Daughters thrashed Omaheke Queens 13-1, while University of Namibia (Unam) beat Arrows Ladies 2-1.
Unam’s coach, Thuba Sibanda, said they played a good, but very intense game after the break.
“We are happy to have gotten a win. Last time we drew.
“They are a tough side, so it was nerve-racking right up to the last minute. I’m happy with the way my players showed up and the way they have been responding to the training. We are fourth on the log right now, and we hope to gain better positioning, but that’s not what we are looking at, more how we show up for each match.”

In other matches of the league on Saturday, Right Way Phoenixes had the better match as they won 5-0 against Ongwediva Queens, while Khomas Nampol beat Okahandja 4-1 and Girls and Goals took a 1-0 victory over Beauties.
On Sunday, Right Way Phoenixes went down fighting 3-1 against Ramblers. Tura Magic dominated the match against Ongwediva Queens, while Omaheke Queens yet again suffered an embarrassing 14-0 defeat at the hands of Arrows Ladies.
Girls and Goals won 6-1 against Okahandja Queens, Unam enjoyed a 5-0 win against Namib Daughters and Nampol suffered narrow 1-0 loss against Beauties.
