Arrows destroy Omaheke Queens
When it rains, it pours, and that’s what happened to Omaheke Queens when they were thrashed 17-0 by Arrows FC at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Technical Centre in what seems to be the highest score so far in the FNB Women Super League to date.
Gobabis outfit Omaheke stood no chance against Arrows as goals just came pouring yesterday in a match which was one-sided from the word go.
The likes of Lorraine ‘Lalas’ Jossob, Whitney Elsabe Renecke, Laimi Jacob, Ashandy Gertze and Ntwala Simataa found the net on the day, giving themselves a chance for the top goal-scorer accolade.
Jossob and Renecke scored six goals each, while Jacob added one. Gertze also found her name on the scoring sheet, as well as Simataa with a hat-trick.
So far, Tura Magic’s Lovisa Mulunga is the top goal-scorer with 15 goals.
Other matches played on Saturday saw the Clever Girls of Unam drawing zero-all with Arrows FC.
Meanwhile, Beauties played to a 2-1 win against Khomas Nampol. In Okahandja at Nau-Aib, Girls and Goals played to a 4-0 win against Okahandja United.
Tura Magic were victorious against Ongwediva Queens in a match that ended 2-1.
Second to none
Looking at the performance of the clubs so far in the league, local sports reporter Michael Hamukwaya said he is impressed with what he is seeing so far. Hamukwaya, who has been following the league since its kick-off, said the players' display has been second to none.
He said when comparing to previous seasons, this season has impressed him the most.
“I’m saying this because the level of performance of all the teams are at equal level, the only difference is the depth and experience of some teams.
“This is a league that nobody knows who will win it. The most interesting part is the turnout of spectators at matches. Even small teams such as Omaheke Queens and Okahandja FC are able to pull a big crowd, not even Debmarine Premiership matches can pull such a crowd. The organisation is of top notch. Branding is of high class,” he added.
Tomorrow, Tura Magic will face Ramblers at the NFA Technical Centre.
