A father fighting hard for his sons dreams

Jomo Uremena has embarked on a journey to ensure that his son, Baghdad Mbauguraije Muundjua, has the opportunity to pursue his mixed martial arts dreams, launching a campaign to secure sponsorship for him.Muundjua, a promising 20-year-old, has found it challenging to obtain the sponsorships necessary to compete in international events.He currently competes in the IMMAF amateur mixed martial arts discipline at the Hybrid Fitness Centre, under the Sousa Mixed Martial Arts Namibia Federation, guided by his coach and mentor, Carlos Sousa.“I am an unemployed Namibian citizen residing in Khomasdal, and I hereby appeal to your esteemed institutions for a sporting UFC sponsorship,” said Uremena.“My son, who is extremely passionate about the sport, has shown so much promise that we cannot simply sit back and watch his dream fade away due to a lack of sponsorship.“He requires monthly gym fees, transport costs, exercise equipment, personal workout gear, and progressive, health-friendly supplements,” he added.Muundjua, who has proven to be a dedicated and hardworking athlete, has already achieved significant accolades — including securing second place at the IMMAF African Championships in 2024, a competition hosted for the first time in Namibia.His father notes that Muundjua is aiming beyond local competitions, with his eyes set on achieving global recognition.“Baghdad is a proud and patriotic Namibian with a big heart and a deep love for his country. He has high aspirations to become the first Namibian to bring home the UFC world championship belt.“I am confident that his ambitions and intentions can be realised with the right financial support and commitment from corporate Namibia and the government,” Uremena said.Muundjua is part of the Namibian team set to represent the country at the upcoming IMMAF African Championships, scheduled to take place in Angola from 6–11 May 2025.Uremena further stated that any company willing to support his son’s journey will be proudly represented throughout Baghdad’s future competitions.“Please feel free to contact me on 081 789 1773, or his mother, Lourencia Muundjua, on 081 215 9612, or via email at lourenciamuundjua103@gmail.com,” he said.Uremena described himself as a desperate father, adding that his son has already missed important international events due to a lack of sponsorship.
