55 500 kg Cannabis beschlagnahmt

Windhoek (cr) • Die Polizei hat im Juni Drogen im Wert von 617 475,30 N$ beschlagnahmt, woraufhin 153 Verdächtige im Zusammenhang mit diesen Straftaten festgenommen wurden.

Nach Angaben der Polizeisprecherin Kauna Shikwambi handelt es sich bei den beschlagnahmten Drogen um 55 545,34 Kilogramm Cannabis, 396 Mandrax-Tabletten und 145 Einheiten Crack-Kokain. Shikwambi teilte mit, dass das beschlagnahmte Cannabis einen Wert von 555 455,30 N$ hat, während die Mandrax-Tabletten und Crack-Kokain-Einheiten einen Wert von 47 520 N$ bzw. 14 500 N$ haben.

Es wurden demnach 153 Verdächtige wegen dieser Drogendelikte festgenommen wurden. Zu des Verdächtigen gehören 148 Namibier, drei Sambier, ein Angolaner und ein Kongolese.

„Der Drogenkonsum ist in unserer Gesellschaft so weit verbreitet, dass die Zukunft vieler junger Namibier ernsthaft bedroht ist, weil sie sehr verletzlich und moralisch nicht gefestigt sind und so in diese kriminellen Aktivitäten hineingezogen werden“, so Shikwambi.

Die Polizei habe deshalb eine zweitägige Kampagne in Otjiwarongo organisiert, bei der die Polizei die Nation über die Gefahren von Drogen aufklären wird.
