Windhoek (fis) - Die Auswertung der Feriensaison (28. November bis 18. Januar) durch die Polizei hat im Vergleich mit dem Vorjahreszeitraum zwei Trends gezeigt: Die Verkehrsunfälle sind zurückgegangen, die Verbrechen sind gestiegen.

Gestern hat NamPol die Statistik veröffentlicht, die den Medien bereits für den 22. Januar versprochen wurde. Laut dem Bericht haben im Jahresvergleich alle Verkehrsunfallzahlen abgenommen: Unfälle von 645 auf 528 (-18%), Verletzte von 1292 auf 965 (-25%) und Tote von 134 auf 127 (-5%). Allerdings sei die Zahl der Verhaftungen wegen Alkohols am Steuer von 225 auf 369 (+64%) gestiegen; zeitweise hinter Gitter gekommen seien dadurch 339 Männer (91,9%) und 30 Frauen (8,1%).

Bei der Kriminalstatistik zeigt sich ein anderes Bild. Zwar seien Hauseinbrüche von 107 auf 90 sowie bewaffnete Raubüberfälle von 8 auf 6 gesunken, die Zahl der Mordfälle aber mit 28 gleichgeblieben. Indes zählt die Statistik gegenüber dem Vorjahr Verbrechensanstiege bei versuchtem Mord (von 25 auf 28), bei Vergewaltigungen (von 61 auf 65), bei Gewalttaten (von 184 auf 197), bei Viehdiebstahl (von 35 auf 69), bei Drogenbesitz (von 69 auf 117) und bei Verhaftungen insgesamt (von 231 auf 296).
