Harare (dpa) - Ein Meteoriten-Einschlag in Nord-Simbabwe hat die Bewohner eines entlegenen Dorfes am Dienstag in Angst und Schrecken versetzt. Der rund fünf Kilogramm schwere Himmelskörper schlug nach einem Bericht der Zeitung "The Herald" in einem Feld ein. "Die Dorfbewohner hörten in östlicher Richtung ein Geräusch, das sie an einen Helikopter erinnerte, und dann folgten Staubwolken", sagte Polizeisprecher Michael Munyikwa dem Blatt.

Der 21 mal 13 Zentimeter große Meteorit, der nahe dem Dorf Chaworeka niederging, ist schwarz gefärbt und hat weiße Partikel. Er wurde zur Untersuchung in ein Polizeilabor der Hauptstadt Harare gebracht, sagte Michael Munyikwa.
