Unam befragt Volk

Windhoek - Die Universität von Namibia (Unam) hat gestern mit einer landesweiten Umfrage begonnen, bei der sie die Meinung der Öffentlichkeit zur Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Namibia einholen will.

Die Umfrage wird von Studenten des multidisziplinären Forschungszentrums (MRCC) der Unam durchgeführt und soll etwa zwölf Tage dauern. Sie wollen stichprobenartig einzelne Haushalte befragen. Die Umfrage wird im Rahmen einer Zusammenarbeit mit der United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) durchgeführt. UNECA hat Namibia als eines der ersten 14 afrikanischen Länder ausgewählt, in denen ein Projekt zur Rechtsstaatlichkeit (Good Governance) durchgeführt werden soll. Mit diesem Projekt sind eine Reihe von Aktionen geplant, die darauf abzielen, eine offenere, demokratische Gesellschaft sowie größere Verantwortlichkeit und Transparenz in öffentlichen Angelegenheiten zu schaffen. Dies wird als Vorraussetzung für eine gut funktionierende Wirtschaft und Entwicklung gesehen. Langzeitziel des Projektes ist es, afrikanische Staaten zu mehr Rechtsstaatlichkeit zu ermutigen.
