Swakopmund/Windhoek (er) - Zum achten Mal in diesem Jahr werden die Spritpreise teurer. Ab Mittwoch (1. Dezember) werden Autofahrer für Benzin und Diesel jeweils 70 Cent mehr pro Liter zahlen. Die neuen Literpreise bei Walvis Bay liegen demnach bei 15,65 N$ für Benzin und 15,58 N$ für Diesel. Wie gewohnt werden die Preise in anderen Landesteilen gemäß der Transportkosten angepasst.

Die jüngste Erhöhung gab das Energieministerium am Freitag bekannt und begründete die Maßnahme mit dem zurzeit hohen Preis für Rohöl sowie der hiesigen Währung, die gegenüber dem US-Dollar an Wert verloren hat. In dem Monat Oktober habe die Regierung beim Einkauf von Sprit insgesamt 154 Mio. N$ zusätzlich gezahlt, was der Nationale Energiefonds (NEF) finanziert habe. „Das Ministerium hat sich beim Betrachten des vergangenen Monats am Scheideweg befunden und nachdem alle möglichen Optionen erwägt wurden, hat das Ministerium beschlossen, die Preise zu erhöhen“, heißt es.

Somit sind die Spritpreise in Namibia seit Jahresbeginn um insgesamt 4,30 N$ (Benzin) bzw. 4,20 N$ (Diesel) gestiegen. Derweil im Dezember 2020 ein Liter Benzin in Walvis Bay 11,35 N$ kostete, müssen Autofahrer in diesem Jahr 38 Prozent mehr zahlen. Diesel wird im Vergleich zum Dezember 2020 (11,38 N$ pro Liter) fast 37 Prozent mehr kosten.
