Schwimmelite kämpft im Water Cube um nationale Titel

Der namibische Schwimmverband (NASU) richtet seine nationalen Kurzbahn-Meisterschaften an diesem Wochenende im Swakopmunder Water Cube aus. Bereits am heutigen Freitag um 15 Uhr ertönt der erste Startschuss. Offiziell eröffnet wird die dreitägige Veranstaltung morgen um 8 Uhr. Die letzten Entscheidungen im beheizten Becken der modernen Halle fallen Sonntag ab 12 Uhr. Am Abend zuvor um 18 Uhr zeichnet die NASU bei einer Preisverleihung ihre besten Schwimmer des Jahres aus. Laut Pressemitteilung des Verbandes haben fünf Vereine insgesamt 151 Teilnehmer für den Saisonhöhepunkt in der Küstenstadt angemeldet, wobei der Dolphins Swimming Club mit 92 Sportlern rund 60 Prozent des Feldes stellt. Die übrigen Akteure verteilen sich demnach auf die Namib Swimming Academy (17), den Swakopmund Swimming Club (16), den Aqua Swimming & Fitness Club (14) und die Oranjemund Sand Sharks (12). Vor zwölf Monaten sicherte sich die damals 16-jährige Sonja Adelaar (Archivbild) beim nationalen Kräftemessen der Mädchen im Water Cube den begehrten Titel „Senior Victor Ludorum“.
