Windhoek (ste) • Gestern veröffentlichte das Kabinett seine Entschlüsse der vergangenen Woche und überraschte mit der Ankündigung, dass Namibia 250 Infanteristen seiner motorisierten Einheit unter Leitung von zwei Offizieren im Rang vom Oberst, sowie einem Polizei-Kommissar, einem Staatssicherheitsoffizier und einem Direktor des namibischen Auswärtigen Amtes, nach Lesotho schicken wird.

Die Truppe wird integraler Teil der SADC-Einsatztruppe, die im Königreich für Ruhe sorgen soll. Lesotho erlebte unlängst einige politisch-motivierte Morde und Unsicherheit, welches die SADC-Staatsoberhäupter mit Sorge beobachteten, denn König Letsie III droht die politische Macht zu entgleiten. Die Regionalpolitiker wollen verhindern, dass die politische Unstabilität sich negativ auf die Nachbarstaaten auswirkt.
