Kricket: Namibia ohne Punktverlust

Windhoek/Kampala - Die namibische Kricket-Nationalmannschaft hat bei einem Ausscheidungswettbewerb des Internationalen Kricket-Verbandes (ICC) in Kampala alle acht Vorrundenspiele gewonnen und sich als souveräner Gruppenerster für das Endspiel am heutigen Freitag, gegen Gastgeber Uganda qualifiziert. Am Mittwoch hatte die namibische Auswahl auch die zweiten Vorrundenvergleiche mit den unterlegenen Nationalteams aus Ghana (160 Punkte Vorsprung) und Kenia (169) deutlich für sich entschieden. Gegen Kenia sorgte Namibias an diesem Tag unbezwingbarer Schlagmann LP van der Westhuizen mit 159 Punkten für eine rekordverdächtige Spitzenleistung. Bester namibischer Bowler war Pikkie Ya France, der drei Wickets holte. Im Finale heute gegen Uganda, das sechs seiner Vorrundenpartien gewinnen konnte, dürfte die namibische Mannschaft um Kapitän Craig Williams auf mehr Widerstand treffen, gilt aber als Favorit.
