Katar richtet Champions-League-Turnier für West-Asien aus

Doha (dpa) - Nach der monatelangen Corona-Zwangspause der asiatischen Champions League ist Katar zum Gastgeber für das Finalturnier der Westregion bestimmt worden. Das teilte der Asiatische Fußball-Verband AFC am Donnerstag mit. Im WM-Ausrichterland von 2022 werden demnach vom 14. September bis zum 3. Oktober 16 Clubs die Gruppenspiele und das Halbfinale bestreiten. Geplant sind 39 Partien, bis der Finalist aus der Westregion feststeht.
Aufgrund der Coronavirus-Pandemie musste auch die asiatische Fußball-
Königsklasse seit Februar pausieren. Für die Ausrichtung der weiteren Spiele in der Ostasien-Region läuft die Bewerbungsfrist noch bis zum 24. Juli.
