Zum ersten Mal ist Namibias Kricket-Auswahl für die T20-Weltmeisterschaft qualifiziert, gleich zog die Mannschaft von Trainer Pierre de Bruyn in die Runde der letzten Zwölf ein und dann gelang auch noch ein Sieg gegen die an 12 gelisteten Schotten (am Schlag gegen Schottland Johannes Jonathan Smit). Damit hat das Team sich in der Weltrangliste von Platz 19 auf 16 verbessert. In der Qualifikationsrunde zum Halbfinale wartet nun am Sonntag 12 Uhr namibischer Zeit in der Gruppe B der siebte der Weltrangliste Afghanistan. Danach wird es auch nicht einfacher, denn nur die ersten zwei kommen in die Endrunde. Auf das namibische Team warten noch der vierte der Welt Neuseeland und der Dritte und Zweite Pakistan und Indien.
