Windhoek (nic) – Das elektronische System zur Geburtenregistrierung startet heute an fünf Krankenhäusern in seine Pilotphase. Dies gab die Unicef-Repräsentantin Micaela Marques de Sousa (Bild) heute Vormittag bei der offiziellen Vorstellung des Systems im Windhoeker Zentralkrankenhaus bekannt und lobte dabei das Projekt des Ministeriums für innere Angelegenheiten und Immigration. Das System soll das Erstellen der Geburtsurkunden von Neugeborenen schneller und einfacher machen und damit „jedem Kind das ihm zugestandene Recht auf eine legale Identität“ ermöglichen. 2018 soll diese digitale Version schließlich landesweit eingeführt werden.
