Windhoek (jon) - Die Frank-Fredericks-Stiftung lädt am Freitag zu ihrem jährlichen Golfturnier ein. Die Veranstaltung wird um 11 Uhr mit einem kurzen Fotoshooting der Teilnehmer beginnen. Ab 12 Uhr startet dann das eigentliche Turnier auf dem Omeya-Golfplatz südlich von Windhoek. Gegen 18:30 Uhr werden die Sieger des 19-Loch-Kurses geehrt. Die Frank-Fredericks-Stiftung wurde Anfang April 1999 vom damaligen Premierminister und heutigen Präsidenten Namibias, Dr. Hage Geingob, ins Leben gerufen. Sie sollte als Weg verstanden werden, auf dem der viermalige Olympia-Silbermedaillengewinner im 100- und 200-Meter-Sprint sich beim Volk „bedanken” könne. Die gemeinnützige Stiftung betreut junge Athleten aus Namibia auf ihrem Weg an die Spitze des Weltsports und vergibt Stipendien an diese.
