DTA fordert Wiedereinstellung der Fischer

Windhoek/Walvis Bay (nic/Finck) - DTA-Präsident McHenry Venaani protestierte am Mittwoch gemeinsam mit mehr als 300 Seefahrern und Fischern in Walvis Bay gegen die Arbeitslosenquote im Fischereisektor. Bei der von der DTA organisierten Protestaktion marschierten die Demonstranten zum Ministerium für Arbeit und Sozialfürsorge, um dort eine Petition an Arbeitsminister Errki Nghimtina einzureichen. Darin wird bereits zum wiederholten Male die Wiedereinstellung der entlassenen Fischer gefordert.

„Es ist falsch, dass über 1000 namibische Fischer in ihrem eigenen Land arbeitslos sind und die Fischereiunternehmen Zeitarbeiter beschäftigen“, erläuterte Venaani. Daher werde der Minister dazu angehalten, dringend mit den relevanten Unternehmen die Verhandlungen aufzunehmen, um die Wiedereinstellung der Fischer sicherzustellen. Ebenso würden mit der Petition kostenlose Qualifizierungsmaßnahmen für Arbeitende im Fischereisektor sowie eine Überprüfung der im Arbeitsgesetz von 2007 festgehaltenen fairen Arbeitsbedingungen gefordert. Der Streik in der Küstenstadt sei dabei die erste Etappe, so kündigte Venaani weitere Protestmärsche für Lüderitzbucht, Oshakati und Rundu an.
