Windhoek/Bwabwata-Nationalpark (nic) – Aktuell befindet sich eine Delegation des Ministeriums für Landwirtschaft, Wasser und Forstwirtschaft (MAWF) im Bwabwata-Nationalpark (Sambesi-Region), um sich über dortige Situation der sterbenden Tiere einen Überblick zu verschaffen. Dies gab Umweltminister Pohamba Shifeta gestern in der Nationalversammlung in Windhoek bekannt und bezog sich damit auf das Flusspferd-Sterben, das seit Anfang Oktober in dem nördlich gelegenen Nationalpark beobachtet wird. Laut Shifeta wurden jedoch nicht nur bislang 109 tote Hippos gefunden, sondern auch 20 Büffelkadaver (Stand 9. Oktober). Eine neue Zählung soll morgen erfolgen. Als Todesursache für die Tiere wird weiterhin Milzbrand vermutet. Mehr dazu demnächst in der AZ. (Foto: Frank Moser)
