Maltas and Dinapama engage with Aris Grundschule
A day dedicated to education, support and gifts
Learners were encouraged to stay in school and take their education seriously, despite the obstacles and challenges they face on a daily basis.
Maltas Club Namibia and Dinapama Manufacturing and Supplies recently partnered to host a 'Creating Healthier Lives' day at Aris Grundschule, located 25 km outside Windhoek.
Established in 1982 with the goal of providing access to education for children from surrounding villages, the school currently serves approximately 140 learners from grades R to 7. It has a staff of eight teachers and seven hostel caretakers.
Thirty percent of the learners at the school are either orphans or classified as vulnerable. The purpose of the day was to combat hunger by ensuring that each learner received a nutritious meal. Additionally, the team extended their 'Keeping Rural Girls in School' initiative to the school.
The learners welcomed the team by singing various songs in their native language, KhoeKhoegowab.
Riska Arnath, the hostel head matron, provided the visitors with an introduction to the school and shared insights into the needs of the learners.
Stay strong
Petrus Stefanus Erwee, co-founder of Maltas Club Namibia, encouraged the learners to stay in school and take their education seriously, despite the obstacles and challenges they face on a daily basis.
Dinapama Manufacturing Supplies marketing and sales manager, Sylvia Kapena, educated the girls on sanitary health issues, and all senior girls at the school were provided with sanitary products and toiletries. Moreover, a soccer ball was also donated to the boys of the school, and the girls received a netball.
Continued support
Maltas and Dinapama have implemented similar initiatives in Tsumkwe and at the Mandume Kindergarten in Okahandja Park, Windhoek. This project won't be the last collaboration with Aris Grundschule. The plan is to support the school's annual prize-giving ceremony for the 2023 academic year in October and continue providing assistance for the school's basic needs as frequently as possible.
Furthermore, the club will also sponsor the prize-giving ceremony in Nyayelo Village, also scheduled for October in Outapi, and organise a Christmas party for the elderly on 13 December in Okafitu, Omusati Region.
