Embracing new traditions at NUST

On 22 February, the University of Science and Technology (NUST) embraced its fellow institution the University of Namibia's (Unam) tradition by hosting a special opening ceremony to welcome new students at the beginning of the academic year.

Pulsating with excitement, the event set the stage for the incoming students' educational journey.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Kenneth Matengu took centre stage to not only encouraged the fresh faces before him to excel academically, but also urge them to actively engage in campus societies and clubs.

Emphasis was placed on holistic development as fostering a sense of community and a shared purpose. Various speakers, in the spirit of the welcoming tradition, offered helpful comments that worked like magic, creating an inviting atmosphere for both the registered students and invited guests.

The ceremony became a platform for connection and inspiration, and as the event drew to a close, the campus radiated with the energy of new beginnings.

Through this newly-founded tradition, NUST has successfully woven a tapestry of excitement, camaraderie and anticipation for the academic adventure that lay ahead.
