A first year to be remembered
My name is Junias Jacobs, known to many as Jay Jay. I am a first-year student at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), studying geoinformation technology, land science and spatial science.
The field of geospatial science concentrates on applying information technology to comprehend people, locations and earth systems. An essential component of the field is the spatial examination of physical and human variables.
In order to predict trends and patterns, geospatial science aids in understanding the connection between the community and the environment. The borders are initially established through surveying, and the data is then analysed and reported using spatial technology.
My university experience so far has been absolutely terrible, and if I could use one word to describe it, it would be hell. Like everybody else, I expected university to be like what it was in the movies - anything relating to a great time in college and living your best life, but TV lied.
However, there are a lot of fun things you can get up to while in varsity, but before doing them, you should always ask yourself at what expense, because some courses require each and every second of your attention. So, you might not experience all the nice things, but it will surely pay off in the end.
Moreover, it's not that bad; I just aspire to finish the course that I have always dreamt of studying. I think the best part of this journey is that I am doing the course I have always wanted to do, so I can literally say I chose my struggle.
Varsity has so many challenges. Having to wait three hours for the next class and spending money every day at the tuck shop because hunger is real. Having to go up and down to the next class through a crowd of so many people is also another challenge.
But thallenges aren't really a lot; I mean, they are basic challenges. The good thing is, there are many people and different cultures, and interacting with them is pretty much what I think is good for me.
Above all, varsity is cool. I just want to make it, get my degree, change the country, and help those around me.
