In the bustling city of Windhoek, Recon Auto and Styling has become a notable name in the auto repair industry. Under the management of Marius Horn, Recon offers a wide range of services aimed at maintaining and restoring vehicles to their best condition.

Recon Auto isn't just another panel beater shop.

"We handle everything from your front bumper to your rear bumper, from your roof to your tyres," said Horn.

This all-in-one approach ensures that all car care needs are met under one roof, providing convenience and peace of mind to customers.

Apart from panel beating and spray-painting, polishing and headlights, dent repairs and fixing accident damage, windscreen replacement and bumper scuffs, car upholstery, accessories and fitment, windscreen chip repairs, sound system installation Recon also does customisation and vintage car restoration.

With over three years of ownership and a business history spanning seven years, Recon Auto has built a solid reputation in Windhoek. Although expansion plans are on the horizon, the current focus remains on establishing a robust local presence at 40 Joule Street, Southern Industrial, Windhoek.

The key to lasting paintwork

A standout feature of Recon Auto is its meticulous approach to spray painting, ensuring that your car’s paint remains vibrant and intact. The process involves several detailed steps:

Preparation and priming: Before painting, every imperfection is addressed. "The reddish marks you see on a primed vehicle are applied to close up all the small imperfections before we paint," Horn explained. This crucial step ensures that any flaws are corrected before the painting process begins.

Spray painting: The painting is done in a controlled environment. Vehicles with extensive damage, especially to parts like the front door, are meticulously repaired and then painted to ensure a seamless finish.

Sanding and polishing: After painting, the vehicle undergoes a fine sanding process with water and very fine sanding paper. This is followed by polishing to achieve a mirror-like finish. "This process brings out the shine and ensures a flawless look," Horn added.

Precision mixing: Recon Auto uses advanced technology to ensure perfect colour matching. "We have a computer with a scale and technology to assist with making the colour perfect before we apply it," Horn said, highlighting the importance of precision in paint mixing.

Final assembly: Once the painting and polishing are complete, the vehicle is reassembled. This includes replacing old rubbers, reinstalling locks and ensuring that windows and other components are perfectly in place.

Building trust through quality service

Trust and quality service are the cornerstones of Recon Auto’s business model. "Panel beating is a business where you go to people you trust because you don’t trust just anybody with your car," Marius emphasizes. By focusing on providing excellent service at a reasonable price, Recon Auto has built lasting relationships with their clients.

Their goal is not just to fix one car but to become the go-to place for entire families. "We want to do your car, your mother’s, your father’s, your daughter’s, and your uncle’s cars," Horn explained. This family-oriented approach sets Recon Auto apart from other service providers.

Looking to the future

Recon Auto is currently focused on establishing a strong local reputation before considering expansion. "For now, we are thinking of expanding, but for now, we're just concentrating on getting this properly running, making this a big name in Windhoek and then we will start building up," said Horn.

In conclusion, keeping your car’s paint in top condition requires attention to detail, the right technology and a trusted service provider. Recon Auto, with its comprehensive services and commitment to quality, stands out as a reliable partner for all your car care needs. Whether it's fixing minor imperfections or providing a full repaint, Recon Auto ensures that your vehicle looks its best.
