Empowerment through local affordable housing

Opinion
The Namibia Mineworkers Investment Holdings Company has invested over 60% in housing developments across the country, showcasing its commitment to empowering Namibians, says the CEO of NAM-MIC, John Ndeutepo.
John Ndeutepo - At the Namibia Mineworkers Investment Holdings Company (NAM-MIC), we believe that access to affordable housing is not just a basic need, but a fundamental right that empowers individuals and communities.

As a nation, Namibia is blessed with massive potential and it is our responsibility to ensure that every Namibian has the opportunity to thrive.

One of the ways in which we can achieve this is by investing in housing developments that are accessible, sustainable and inclusive.

To achieve this, our strategy is to create long-term value for our shareholders by selectively investing in start-up and existing companies and opportunities that operate in growth sectors, focus on long-term value creation, and have competent management.

We currently have twelve active investments in six different sectors.

Investment

In line with the Namibian housing policy, which states that “access to basic services and shelter should be viewed as the inherent right of human beings in Namibia, particularly given the socio-economic background of Namibian society characterised by poverty, inequality, and lack of access to basic services”, NAM-MIC has invested over 60% in housing developments across the country, showcasing our commitment to empowering Namibians.

Consequently, our investments span every corner of Namibia, from urban centres to remote areas, ensuring that no one is left behind.

By funding these projects, we are not only providing homes, but also creating jobs, stimulating local economies and fostering a sense of community.

Empowerment

Furthermore, affordable housing is more than just shelter; it is a fundamental aspect of economic empowerment.

When people have access to safe, secure and affordable homes, they are better positioned to pursue education, employment and entrepreneurship.

This, in turn, leads to stronger, more resilient communities that contribute to the overall growth and development of our nation.

Therefore, we have made it our mission to help build houses for lower-income Namibians, making housing more affordable and attainable for everyone.

In addition to our housing initiative, our strategy is to create long-term value for our shareholders by selectively investing in start-up and existing companies and opportunities that operate in growth sectors.

Long-term value

In addition to our housing initiative, our strategy is to create long-term value for our shareholders by selectively investing in start-up and existing companies and opportunities that: operate in growth sectors; those who focus on long-term value creation; as well as those with competent management.

We currently have twelve active investments in six different sectors.

In addition to our housing initiatives and as part of our strategy, NAM-MIC has also made investments in NAMITVEST, which recently launched in partnership with JTT.

This collaboration is an investment in the long-term prosperity of Namibia.

Economic development

By investing in NAMITVEST, we are not only supporting the housing sector but also exploring new avenues for economic growth and development.

Ultimately, our vision at NAM-MIC is to create value for our shareholders while making a positive impact on the lives of Namibians.

We are committed to implementing sustainable development through strategic investments that empower individuals and communities.

NAM-MIC’s investment in affordable housing is more than just a financial commitment; it is a pledge to uplift the people of Namibia.

By building homes, we are building futures, and by empowering individuals, we are empowering our nation.

Together, we can create a brighter, more prosperous future for all Namibians. - The Namibia Mineworkers Investment Holdings Company
