Journalisten-Gilde ehrt ihre besten Schreiberlinge

Lazarus Amukeshe von der Tageszeitung The Namibian wurde zum Journalisten des Jahres bei den diesjährigen Editors Forum of Namibia Journalism Awards 2023 (EFN Awards) ernannt. Gastsprecher an dem Abend war der preisgekrönte Investigativjournalist Jacques Pauw, der unter anderem Bücher wie „Our Poisond Land“ und „The President’s Keeper“ geschrieben hat. Er schilderte den Anwesenden und Gästen ein ernüchterndes Bild über die politische Situation in Südafrika. Auch sprach der weltberühmte Historiker Professor Yuval Noah Harari via Videoschalte über den Einfluss von Künstlicher Intelligenz (AI) in den Medien.

Als Ehrengast bei den diesjährigen EFN Awards beteuerte der namibische Präsident Hage Geingob die Pressefreiheit als einer der wichtigsten Säulen der Demokratie. Er erklärte, dass die Pressefreiheit eines der Ziele war, für die das namibische Volk gekämpft hat. Geingob bekräftigte außerdem, dass die Medienfreiheit in Namibia garantiert ist, solange er Präsident ist. Fotos: Soziale Medien
