Gitarre von Eric Clapton für über eine Million Dollar versteigert

Nashville (dpa) • Eine bunt bemalte Gitarre der Blues- und Rocklegende Eric Clapton („Layla“) ist in den USA für 1,27 Millionen Dollar (1,17 Millionen Euro) versteigert worden. Nach Angaben des Auktionshaus Julien's ist dies ein Rekordpreis für eine Gitarre des britischen Musikers bei einer Versteigerung. Der heute 78-jährige Clapton hatte auf der Gibson E-Gitarre aus dem Jahr 1964 während seiner Zeit mit der Rockband Cream gespielt. Die als „The Fool“ bekannte Gitarre fällt durch eine psychedelisch-bunte Bemalung auf.

Die Versteigerung fand am Donnerstagabend in Nashville (US-Staat Tennessee) statt. Laut Mitteilung von Julien's ist der Unternehmer, Sammler und Eigentümer des Football-Clubs Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay, der neue Besitzer.

Die Versteigerung war Teil der dreitägigen „Played, Worn and Torn: Rock N' Roll Iconic Guitars and Memorabilia“-Auktion, bei der bis Samstagabend mehr als 1 000 Stücke aus dem Besitz von Musikgrößen wie Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Prince, The Beatles oder Frank Zappa angeboten wurden.
