Tjiueza’s Cape Town move delayed

The up-and-coming Namibian is expected to undergo surgery.
Injured Brave Warriors midfield playmaker Prins Tjiueza has allegedly failed his first medical test at his new club Cape Town City FC.
The 21-year-old recently returned from the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations and was set to join his new club in Cape Town, but an ankle injury he picked up at the continental championship has extended his wait to join up with his new club.
SportWrap understands that Tjiueza undertook a CT scan as a standard requirement by football clubs and his ankle injury reflected on the scans, resulting in his failure of the medical.
Sources say Tjiueza might have to undergo surgery before returning to Cape Town City for another medical test.
“It is unfortunate that the player picked up a serious injury during Namibia’s last match against Angola in the round of 16.
“He boarded off in Johannesburg for his medical and the results were not what he had hoped for.
“As we speak the player is back in Windhoek and will be required to undergo surgery before he can do another medical test,” the source said.
Tjiueza did confirm that he is back in Namibia, but remained hesitant to disclose further information on his injury and medical test result.
TRANSFER
Cape Town City penned a reported N$1,2 million deal with Tjiueza’s former employer, Liria Prizren in Kosovo, with the latter holding a 10% of a potential future transfer fee.
The player was an influential figure in the Brave Warriors team that made history at the Africa Cup of Nations by reaching the knockout stage for the first time.
Tjiueza burst on the scene after participating at the Skorpion Zinc tournament before impressing at the under-17 Cosafa Championship where he scored six goals.
He was also part of the Namibian under-20 team which played at the under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Tjiueza was named player of the match in their opening encounter at the tournament.
Tjiueza helped Liria Prizren earn promotion to the Football Superleague of Kosovo for the 2023–2024 season. During last year it was reported that he was being strongly pursued by South Africa’s DStv Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
