Windhoek (bb) – Namibias Rugby-Nationalmannschaft hat am Samstag die Qualifikation für die WM 2019 in Japan klar gemacht. Die Welwitschias gewannen auch ihr letztes Spiel im Afrika Gold Cup, der als Qualifikation dient und sicherten so den ersten Platz. Gegen die Kenianer, die vor dem Spiel gegen Namibia ebenfalls alle ihre Spiele gewinnen konnten, überzeugte die Rugby-Auswahl auf ganzer Linie und siegte verdient mit 53:28. Von Beginn an war den Männern aus Namibia der Siegeswille anzumerken, zur Halbzeit hatte man sich bereits eine beruhigende 22:7-Führung aufgebaut. Diese wurde durch eine ebenfalls starke zweite Halbzeit ohne Probleme verwaltet, so dass am Ende der Titel des Afrika Gold Cups und somit die WM-Qualifikation gefeiert werden durften. (Foto: Archiv)
