Kalahari Anib Lodge - Sunsets to remember
Arriving in summer, the temperature on a normal day is likely to exceed 30 degree Celsius, but the grass and large trees of the inner courtyard of the lodge cool down this oasis, which shelters you from the intense heat and the burning red sand of the surroundings. Furthermore, thanks to the lodge’s two swimming pools, it is easy to escape the high temperature and cool off in the water. The main pool is located inside the garden courtyard, while the other one overlooks the open Kalahari veld. The latter offers a surreal experience with you sipping a cold drink and cooling off in the clear, blue water while watching the harsh environment in the scintillating and almost unbearable heat.
Kalahari Anib Lodge is set in the Gondwana Kalahari Park which is just under 10 000 hectare and offers a variety of wildlife including Giraffe, Springbok, Kudu, Blue Wildebeest and of course Oryx. Going on game drive to watch the sunset or for that matter the rising sun in the morning is the perfect way to observe these animals against a beautiful setting, while learning more about the birds and vegetation in this area, as told by your guide. The perfect way to end your day is by taking part in a Sundowner-drive, stopping on the summit of a dune to enjoy an unforgettable drink while taking in the exquisite view. As the red glow of the setting sun gives the red sands a fiery glow, the Kalahari is sure to burn its images into your memory forever.
The lodge also offers guided dune walks or for those who like to do their own exploring, there are marked hiking trails. Another fun way of visiting the Kalahari Park is, by booking an e-bike and peddling through the beautiful environment along pre-marked bicycle routes.
Apart from experiencing the Kalahari first hand, the Kalahari Anib Lodge is also a perfect overnight stop when travelling between Windhoek and the South, or when heading to the Kgalagadi Trans-Frontier Park.
