Als beste Schauspielerin für Rolle in Hairareb

Dieses Jahr wandert der Filmpreis „Africa Movie Academy Award“ für die beste Schauspielerin in einer Nebenrolle von Nigeria nach Namibia. Es ist der zweite internationale Preis den Hazel Hinda für ihren Auftritt als Moira im Drama Hairareb erhielt, nachdem sie beim „Festival International du Film Pan-Africain de Cannes“ in Frankreich zur besten Schauspielerin gekürt wurde.

Der Film Hairareb basiert auf einem Buch von August C. Bikeur, welches ursprünglich als Radioaufführung in den 70ern und 80ern auf Damara ausgestrahlt wurde. Darin wird die Geschichte von Hairareb und /Ininis erzählt, einem zwangsverheirateten Paar in Namibia. Die Geschichte wurde von Aina Ligola Kwedhi als Filmskript neu geschrieben und im August 2019 auf die große Leinwand gebracht.

Seitdem erhielt der Film zahlreiche Anerkennungen für den besten Erzählfilm, besten Regisseur und besten männlichen Schauspieler bei den namibischen Theater und Filmpreisen (NFTA), dem Durban internationalen Filmfestival, dem London Lift-Off Filmfestival, dem afrikanischen Diaspora internationalen Filmfestival, sowie zwei Dikalo Preise für beste Schauspielerin.
