Gawanas im Amt bestätigt

Windhoek - Die ehemalige Ombudsperson Namibias, Bience Gawanas, ist für einen zweiten Termin von vier Jahren zur Kommissarin für soziale Angelegenheiten der Afrikanischen Union (AU) gewählt worden.

Die Wahl fand am 1. Februar während des 10. Gipfeltreffens der AU in Addis Abeba statt. Das hiesige Außenministerium nahm die Wiederwahl von Gawanas erfreut zur Kenntnis und verwies in einer Presseerklärung auf die zahlreichen Erfolge, die Gawanas seit ihrem Amtsbeginn bei der AU im September 2003 erzielt habe. Der Aufgabenbereich von Gawanas bei der Afrikanischen Union erstreckt sich über ein weites Feld und schließt die Bereiche Gesundheit, Arbeit, Kultur, Sport und Migration ein.
