Landesweit haben Einwohner am Montagabend ein merkwürdiges Phänomen am Nachthimmel erlebt. Ein Meteor hat gegen 21.30 Uhr den Himmel kurz erleuchtet (Foto). Zahlreiche Augenzeugen wollen das glühende Objekt beobachtet haben, das mit hoher Geschwindigkeit von Norden nach Süden streifte. Berichte trafen aus Oranjemund, Swakopmund, Windhoek und sogar aus Tsumeb ein. Bisher ist nichts Genaues bekannt, aber wahrscheinlich handelte es sich dabei um einen in die Atmosphäre eindringenden Meteor oder um einfachen Weltraummüll. Ob der Feuerball einen Zusammenhang mit dem zurzeit stattfindenden Lyrid-Meteorschauer hat, ist nicht bekannt. • Foto: Privat
