Windhoek/Luanda (ap) - Namibias Nachwuchstalente haben ihr Medaillenkonto bei den Zone-5-Meisterschaften der afrikanischen Sport-Union (AUSC) deutlich ausgebaut. Die Sportler heimsten in Luanda 13 Mal Edelmetall ein. Mit Erstplatzierungen, sechs Silberrängen und fünf Mal Bronze belegt das namibische Kontingent den siebten Rang im Gesamtklassement. Den ersten Platz belegt Simbabwe mit ganzen 29 Medaillen, gefolgt von Südafrika und Mosambik. Namibias Basketballer erlebten unterdessen einen katastrophalen Turnierauftakt. Die Mannschaft von Chefcoach Manuel Carballo ging gegen die Gastgeber mit 31:108 unter.
