Die Internationale Medienhilfe (IMH), von der die AZ ein Mitglied ist, hat angekündigt, dass die Radiomacherin Sybille Moldzio von Hitradio Namibia einen Zuspruch von 23% aller Stimmen genoßen hat und somit zur „Auslandsdeutschen des Jahres 2021" gekürt wurde. Von Ende Juli bis Ende Oktober konnten Deutschsprachige in aller Welt zum dritten Mal darüber abstimmen, wer in diesem Jahr „Auslandsdeutsche des Jahres" wird. Fünf Frauen standen im Finale dieses Wettbewerbs, der mittlerweile der bedeutendste von- und für Auslandsdeutsche weltweit ist Ausschlaggebend bei der Wahl, die von der Internationalen Medienhilfe (IMH) organisiert wurde, war erneut vor allem das Engagement der Teilnehmerinnen für die eigene Kultur. Es konkurrierten deutschstämmige Frauen aus Chile, Rumänien, Brasilien, Namibia und den USA miteinander.
