Haloliwa Nghiwanapo, the sales manager at RMB Namibia, joined the bank as a Junior Foreign Exchange Dealer back in 2019 and has since advanced to her current position.This achievement did not come easy; she overcame multiple academic and professional hurdles to achieve what she has today.In 2018, Nghiwanapo obtained her Master’s Degree in Finance and Risk Management in the United Kingdom after her transition into Business Analysis, adding to her arsenal of skills and expertise in financial markets. In her current role, Nghiwanapo focuses on providing tailored foreign exchange solutions for clients while managing risks in a highly volatile market.One of the main challenges she faces is staying ahead of rapid changes in global markets and adapting strategies to ensure client success. “Navigating these complexities requires a blend of market analysis, client engagement and robust risk management,” she explained. Beyond her dedicated role at RMB Namibia, Nghiwanapo is a top achiever. In 2022 she was awarded the Future of FXPH Award for developing the best data set for the FX environment in RMB BroaderAfrica. This is a tool that can be used by the business to make key decisions and introduce automation within the FX business of the organisation.“It frees the team to to focus on completing other key tasks such as developing innovative FX strategies for our clients, and expanding the bank’s FX solutions to meet Namibia's growing trade demands,” she elaborates.Strategic adviceNghiwanapo says that her team works closely with clients to understand their business models and financial objectives. This approach enables them to offer strategic advice and innovative FX solutions. She stresses that something that should trend is the opportunity for Namibian SMEs to aggressively aspire to manufacturing, and urges individuals to start thinking about sustainability and how to create jobs, improve the quality of living conditions, and strengthen the country’s overall economy.“I am honoured to work in a space where the small positive changes we make can carry our clients a long way. I’m motivated by the dynamic nature of foreign exchange and the opportunity to continuously learn and grow,” she says.She advises young professionals to remain curious and open to learning, and points to the importance of building strong relationships and developing problem-solving skills as key to building a successful career.“Rome should not just be about building a bigger city, but more about each building being of greater value.” Outside the office, Nghiwanapo enjoys outdoor sports, reading, creating art and spending time with family and friends.
