I am deeply honoured and grateful to be appointed as the Junior Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Keetmanshoop municipality. This opportunity is more than just a title; it is a responsibility and a platform that allows me to represent and empower the youth of our town.What makes this moment even more significant is the fact that Keetmanshoop has not had a Junior Council in place for quite some time. The revival of this council marks a fresh chapter of youth engagement, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this transformation from the ground up.A role that reflects who I amThis position aligns perfectly with who I am as a person. I’ve always been outspoken, unafraid to ask questions, and deeply curious about how systems work. I believe that change begins when we challenge the status quo and seek to understand our world more deeply. These traits help me approach my duties as Junior CEO with passion and intentionality.I am eager not only to represent the youth of Keetmanshoop but also to inspire them to think critically, get involved, and believe in the power of their voices.Drawing inspiration for a strong Keetmanshoop Junior CouncilAs Keetmanshoop rebuilds its Junior Council, we look to other towns in Namibia for guidance and inspiration. The Windhoek Junior Council, for example, has successfully implemented various impactful initiatives, including environmental campaigns, youth awareness drives, and support for children affected by cancer.Similarly, the Swakopmund Junior Town Council has shown what committed youth can achieve through community clean-up drives and outreach programmes for the less fortunate.These councils serve as excellent examples of what a well-structured and active Junior Council can accomplish. Here in Keetmanshoop, we aim to adopt and adapt these models to suit our unique context—building a council that is equally impactful and sustainable.My vision for KeetmanshoopAs Junior CEO, I envision a Keetmanshoop where young people are not just beneficiaries of change, but the very architects of it. I aim to build bridges between the youth and the municipality, promoting open dialogue, inclusive initiatives, and shared growth.We will work towards projects that uplift our community, be it in education, health, environmental care, or social development.These responsibilities mirror the objectives of Junior Councils across Namibia, which aim to cultivate democratic values, promote youth leadership, and instil a sense of national pride through active civic participation.A commitment to serveI am truly thankful to the Keetmanshoop Municipality for placing their trust in me. This appointment is not just a personal achievement, it is a call to service. I accept this role with a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to use my voice and actions to spark meaningful change.I believe in the potential of our youth, and together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant Keetmanshoop.This is our time to lead, to question, to learn, and to grow. And I’m ready to give it my all.
